Georgia Vanderville

Title of Talk : Silence Can Save A Life

Georgia Vanderville is an award winning entrepreneur, best-selling author, keynote speaker and known for her international work with our youth including our LGBTQ community. Voted as the Most Influential Women of the Sierra Nevada, Georgia has used her influence to help aid our youth in Mental Health and Drug Awareness across the world. Georgia’s years of traveling the United States and Europe; hiking, backpacking and listening to stories around the world led to starting her Leading Candle Manufacturing Company, Shortie’s Candle Company, in 2002 with a Just Cause to "Inspire healthier mental health by connecting people to happiness." Armed with her Listening approach to business she has built a world renowned team and in her downtime loves to go snowboarding and hiking with her family.

Dr. Joel Wong

Title of Talk : How to Change Your Past

Dr. Joel Wong is a Professor of Counseling Psychology in the School of Education at Indiana University. Joel’s research interests are in gratitude, encouragement, Asian American mental health, and men and masculinities. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and of the Asian American Psychological Association.

Jae Gasana

Jae Gasana, born in Bloomington, Indiana has been interested in music since an early age before seeking out opportunities in high school to explore their passion. But as they grew older they struggled with mental health issues and not seeing others like them being represented. Songwriting has been an outlet for Jae to express their intrusive thoughts and existential anxieties. As a queer person of color, Jae believes there should be more diverse spaces for artists. The importance of inclusive spaces for youth and marginalized groups is something Jae is passionate about, as if it weren’t for having those spaces to work in they wouldn’t be who they are today.

Dr. Vishakh Iyer

Title of Talk : Weeding Out Pain and Addiction: Tackling Two Sides of the Opioid Epidemic

Dr. Vishakh Iyer is a postdoctoral research associate at Indiana University Bloomington. Born and raised in India, Vishakh moved to the United States in 2012 and has since earned an MS in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience and a PhD. in Neuroscience and Psychology. He has previously worked as a Research Technologist at Penn State University studying therapies for Parkinson's Disease. Currently, his current research is focused on developing novel endocannabinoid-based approaches towards overcoming the unwanted side-effects such as addiction, withdrawal and respiratory depression caused by the use and misuse of commonly prescribed opioids such as morphine, oxycodone, and fentanyl.
